Come Out of Your Shell (8x10 inches) Oil on Canvas

“Come Out of Your Shell” is the second painting in the ‘To the Depths collection.  Depicting a hand coming out of a shell, the idea is very figurative.  This piece became very special to me in relation to where it fits in the overall collection.  The idea that after a fall, sometimes you linger in the depths.  It isn’t a simple task to pick yourself up after tragedy, but it isn’t a crime to accept a numbingly mundane scenario instead of hope for the future. I believe the best course of action in those moments are to do something out of character or to shock yourself, that always seems better than simply accepting one’s position in these depths of normalcy.
