Sea Level (8x11.5 inches) Oil on Canvas

“Sea Level” is the third painting to come to this collection. It resembles an eye looking upward under sea. Similar to the rest of this collection, there is a general theme of drowning under pressure. However, another theme in contrast is the idea of hope in the most uncertain times. The body can take a large strain during the course of a person’s life, yet the mental strain seems premature.  At young ages, I find people with back breaking trauma to carry. If this collection were a story, this would be the last installment. The symbol of hope, Gatsby’s green light, now drenched in blue.  Hope not just for the future, but finding a certain contentment in the hope for change.
